Arizona landscape at Davenport's Rest campus in Arizona

Our Sanctuary

A place designed for
your next chapter.

A restorative sanctuary campus in the Central Arizona Foothills, designed as a peaceful haven for women and families pursuing lasting restoration.

Anchor & Ascent Ministries

We believe independence is possible — and that it takes time, space, and community to get there.

Anchor & Ascent Ministries was born from a simple but radical question: what would it look like to give women not just a hand up, but a genuine runway? Not a 30-day program. Not a shelter. A sanctuary — with the time and tools to build a beautiful, independent future.

Davenport's Rest is the physical expression of that vision — a 5,692-acre sanctuary ranch in Arizona, designed from the ground up to be a place where women and families can stop surviving and start truly living.

It is a complete ecosystem — housing, on-site childcare, spiritual formation, vocational training, and community — all woven together, on one land, for 36 months. Mothers don't leave their children at the door to get help. Their children are part of the journey. And every graduate leaves with a career, a community, and the keys to their own vehicle.

The Equestrian & Hippotherapy Division

Healing that begins before the classroom.

Davenport's Rest is the hands-on, animal-assisted therapy wing of the Anchor & Ascent Ministries ecosystem. Before vocational training begins, the land itself begins its work — through rhythmic movement, living connection, and the quiet power of the natural world.

Horses respond to presence, not performance. That truth alone can be profoundly healing for women and children who have spent years in survival mode. Our equestrian division harnesses the clinically recognized benefits of equine interaction to restore nervous system regulation, rebuild trust, and create the inner calm that makes all other growth possible.

The land heals first. Then the work begins.

Our Programs

Three pathways. One purpose.

Hippotherapy session at Davenport's Rest — equine-assisted therapy for children and women in Arizona

Program One

Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy uses the rhythmic, multidimensional movement of a horse to engage the neurological system in ways that traditional therapy cannot replicate. As a participant moves with the horse, the brain and body are gently challenged to regulate, respond, and recalibrate — building neurological function, postural strength, and emotional equilibrium simultaneously.

At Davenport's Rest, hippotherapy is designed for both women and their children — creating a shared healing environment where mothers and kids can experience restoration together. The residential spaces and equestrian facilities are intentionally structured so that no woman has to choose between her own healing and the wellbeing of her children. They heal side by side, on the same land, at the same time.

Program Two

Animal Husbandry

The daily care of animals — feeding, grooming, mucking stalls, monitoring health — is far more than farm work. It is a structured, sensory-rich practice that builds routine, responsibility, and a deep sense of purpose. When you are responsible for a living creature, something shifts inside you.

Our animal husbandry program is woven into the daily rhythm of campus life, giving residents hands-on experience with horses, livestock, and other animals while developing the practical skills and inner steadiness that carry into every other area of the 36-month journey.

Program Three

Specialized Support for Autism

Davenport's Rest offers dedicated pathways for children and adults on the autism spectrum. Equine-assisted activities have been shown to improve communication, social engagement, sensory processing, and self-regulation in individuals with autism — often reaching places that traditional therapies cannot.

Our specialized support program is designed with the unique sensory and communication needs of each participant in mind, offering a calm, structured, and deeply individualized experience on the land.

In Partnership With

Ascent: Wellness & Health

Davenport's Rest operates in seamless partnership with Ascent: Wellness & Health — our dedicated wellness and clinical support entity. Where the equine division provides the embodied, land-based foundation of healing, Ascent provides the clinical, whole-person wellness framework that surrounds and deepens that work.

Together, these two entities form an integrated continuum of care — from the arena to the counseling room — ensuring that every participant receives support that is both grounded and clinically sound.

Clinical Oversight

Ascent provides licensed clinical support that complements and deepens the equine therapy experience.

Whole-Person Wellness

Physical health, mental wellness, and nutritional support are woven into the integrated care model.

Our Foundation

Everything here is built on faith.

We believe that God sees every woman who has been overlooked, worn down, or told she's too far gone. We believe He restores. We believe He calls women into purpose — and that sometimes, He uses the quiet of the Central Arizona Foothills land and a community of believers to do it.

Davenport's Rest is not a secular program with a chapel bolted on. Faith is the architecture. Spiritual formation, prayer, Scripture, and community are woven into every part of life on campus — because we believe that is where lasting change begins.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

What We Stand For

Our core values.

Faith-Centered

We believe God restores, redeems, and calls every woman into a purpose greater than her past. Faith is not a program module — it is the soil everything else grows from.

Whole-Life Restoration

True independence is built from the inside out. We invest in the whole person — spirit, mind, body, and practical skill — because lasting change never happens in just one dimension.

Community Over Isolation

You were never meant to do this alone. Our campus is intentionally designed to foster deep, genuine relationships among women who are building something new — together.

Rooted in Place

The restorative sanctuary campus in the Central Arizona Foothills is not incidental — it is intentional. Space, stillness, and the natural world are woven into the healing environment we are creating here.
